I still own, not my first pair, but the first pair of Weejuns paid for with my own earnings. (In the back of the closet, of course.) Forty-two years later, penny loafers, black-tan-wine, still form a major portion of my footwear wardrobe. Throw in ‘boat shoes’ and loafers are the biggest players.

Sadly, the quality of Bass’s line, as well as BB’s basic loafer, has declined in quality and comfort. Joy, though, because Allen Edmonds and Cole Haan still have excellent offerings. I own all four of these brands, but AE & CH are worn when a stylish impression is to be made and more comfort is demanded.

Anyway, that’s my two cents.
