Suspend Disbelief

When wearing a tuxedo, can a cumberbund be worn with suspenders?

As long as you’re wearing the suspenders under the cummerbund and not over (yes, we’ve seen it), the answer is yes.

One of the great benefits of wearing suspenders (those that clip on with the metal teeth) or braces (those that fasten with buttons on the inside of your trousers. Ask your tailor if you don’t have them) is that you can wear your trousers a bit looser and at your natural waist. Both of which are more flattering. That and you’re often wearing a tuxedo where eating is involved so the extra room in the waist will likely come in handy.
